Dr. Norman Zadeh

Norm Zadeh (also known as Norm Zada) has a background in applied mathematics, gambling, and the financial markets. Norm’s father (Lotfi) created Fuzzy Logic. In 1972-73, Norm worked as a computer science research staff member for IBM. From 1975 to 1983, he taught as a professor (largely in a visiting capacity) at Stanford, UCLA, Columbia, and U.C. Irvine. In 1983, Norm taught a course at UCLA on how to make money in the stock and commodities markets. He opened a real $10,000 account and traded it in front of the class, making 140% during the quarter. The UCLA finance faculty had been teaching that the markets were efficient. They were furious. Not surprisingly, Norm was not rehired. He began the U.S. Trading Championship in 1983. That was followed by the United States Investing Championship, and then the $1 million minimum Money Manager Verified Ratings. In or around 1992, Norm opened several hedge funds with his partner Jeff Goodstein and began managing money. He had no losing years from 1992 through 2000. Norm stopped managing money in 2012. He runs this competition primarily because he enjoys helping people gain the recognition they deserve. Norm has written four books, Winning Poker Systems, published by Prentice Hall in 1974, and three books available on Amazon: Hold’em Poker Super Strategy, The Rise and Fall of Perfect 10, and Fox News: The Enemy Within. Norm is forming a small record label called “Zada Records.” He has written several songs, available on YouTube, Spotify, and other platforms, including “I Just Need a Chance,” “It’s Christmas,” “Dreaming of You,” ”Lifetime in Love,” “For You,” “Autumn,” and “Dishes.” If any contestant would prefer to sing rather than trade, let us know.
